A TUV certification means a sampling of the product has been tested for safety and found to meet the minimum requirements of the German Equipment and Product Safety Act. If you’ve ever looked for outdoor lighting, you’ve probably looked for a UL wet location safety rating. Similar to the UL acronym for Underwriters Laboratories, TUV stands for Technischer Überwachungsverein (or Technical Inspection Association in English). GS is an acronym for Geprüfte Sicherheit (meaning “tested for safety” or “certified for safety”). Also like UL testing, TUV/GS is a voluntary certification.

Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) was established in 1999 with a mandate to pursue the cause of housing and habit providers. It has grown its membership base since then and has more than 12500 members today spread across 23 state and 205 city chapters. CREDAI targets to reach at least 300 cities by the end of March 2019. On the advocacy side, CREDAI is today the preferred platform for National discourse on Housing and Habitat.

ISO 9001 is the international standard for a quality management system (“QMS”). In order to be certified to ISO 9001, a company must follow the requirements set forth in the ISO 9001 Standard. The standard is designed to help companies at many levels, including a focus on customer requirements, improving leadership within the company, finding ways to continually improve, and more (see our article about Quality Principles for more details). There are several different documents in the ISO 9000 family of standards, but ISO 9001 is the only standard in the 9000 series that requires certification. Typically, an entire organization will seek certification, but the scope of the QMS can be tailored to improve performance at a particular facility or department.
